Carnival is that time of the year when students, parents and all members of staff have some time to wind down from the busy school routine. At Mgarr Primary School carnival brings a number of traditions. The main events for the day were the dance stunts prepared by the parents and teachers.
A presentation by year 5.2 students of Dr. Micallef kicked off the programme. This presentation gave a detailed explanation of the origins of carnival and traditions and food typical of this time of the year.
Following this presentation parents and teachers danced to the cheers of the audience. It was very entertaining seeing the team of parents entertaining the audience, followed by the team of teachers, KGAs and LSAs who took us back in time with their dancing.
Following these performances children were surprised by a slide show presentation diplaying photos of all members of staff of when they were still young. Students and parents enjoyed playing this game trying to guess who photos represented.
Finally the students had time to dance along to music and showing off a colourful display of costumes. Well done to everyone for making this event yet another success 😉
