Birgu & Marsaxlokk educational outing

On Friday 21st February 2014 the two Year 5 classes went to visit two important places in the south of Malta: the old city of Birgu and Marsaxlokk fishing village.

Birgu001 In Birgu they toured the characteristic narrow streets and identified a number of historical buildings and monuments. They visited the Inquisitor’s Palace (where there was some filming taking place) and then walked along the waterfront up to Fort St. Angelo, while admiring the beautiful yachts berthed at the Yacht Marina.

In Marsaxlokk they could observe the various fishing boats and nets from up close, while some pupils took the opportunity to speak with a few of the fishermen and women who were busy at their work.

In both places we could notice a good number of tourists enjoying Malta’s sights or savouring a tasty meal at one of the numerous restaurants we encountered on our path. Delicious!
