Earth Day 2021 – Wear blue, green or yellow – Thursday 22nd April 2021

On Thursday 22nd April 2021, we are celebrating EARTH DAY. On that day, all students may come to school wearing blue (like the sky)/green (like the trees)/yellow (like the sun) clothes or any combination of these colours. Just as we did last year when we were in lockdown, the children are asked to do some sustainable activity or make something to help save our planet. It could be a drawing, some kind of craft, an activity such as planting/ saving water/electricity/ reducing plastic or appreciation of nature. Take photos of your activity / artwork and upload them on our padlet in this link: https://padlet.com/dorita_maniscalco/yu9e73p3nw5nibbs

IMPORTANT NOTICE – ENTRANCE & DISMISSAL – YEAR 4, 5 & 6

Good morning Parents / Guardians

Since road works are being carried out in Triq Fisher, Triq San Pietru needs to be open at all times. Public Transport will be diverting traffic through Triq San Pietru, so a large amount of vehicle flow will be passing from there. This is not safe for our students.

So entrance and dismissal for Year 4, 5 & 6 will be from Triq Romiro Cali for the coming weeks. Keep the same time please:

Year 4 – 8.30am – 2.10pm
Year 5 – 8.35am – 2.15pm
Year 6 – 8.40am – 2.20pm

NB: the students are to use the stairs from the school to the road and not the ramp because the ramp will be used by the Kinder students.

Kind regards
Mgarr Primary School Administration

Digital Detox Challenge – BeSmartOnline

Dear Parents / Guardians

The BeSmartOnline! team brings together FSWS (Foundation for Social Welfare Services), the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes within the Ministry for Education and the Cyber Crime Unit within the Malta Police Force.

The aim of this initiative is to create awareness about the safe use of the internet and to provide support to children, parents/carers and educators.

This initiative has become even more important since children are spending much more time online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore being exposed to online risks. The BeSmartOnline! team will be launching a #DigitalDetoxChallenge with the aim of encouraging children and young people to engage in offline activities so as to promote an online/offline balance.

The #DigitalDetoxChallenge will be launched on the 31st of March for a period of 7 weeks. Every week a new task will be posted on the BeSmartOnline! social media platforms (facebook and Instagram). Each task will focus on promoting offline games, critical thinking, creating positive content, respect and physical activity.

Through this Challenge, children and young people will be encouraged to be creative and to use their imagination, things that may not be given a priority when there is too much screen time. This challenge also aims to support families in promoting an online/offline balance.

We will keep you informed.
