The meaning of Lent – Year 4.1
The students of Year 4.1, together with their teacher Ms Lewis and LSE Ms Graziella, dedicated time to reflect on the meaning of Lent. The 40 days of Lent represent the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert at the start of his public life. Jesus fasted during his time in the wilderness, and so Christians identify with his suffering by choosing to do 3 things more than usual: PRAY, SACRIFICE AND GIVE. The children created a beautiful display in the school corridor to share this special time with all the school children and staff.
Poem Recital Activity Year 4.1
Each student of Year 4.1 recited a short poem of their own choice in front of the other students. This was a great incentive for children to appreciate different poems and act them out. It was an interesting experience for all the children and they all did so well. Big well done!
Crack the Code! Escape Room! Year 4.1. Ms Lewis.
The students of Year 4.1 were locked in the room by a pirate who stole a treasure chest. Our Coding Heroes managed to solve literacy and numeracy tasks to discover the scrambled code and the place where the treasure was hidden. They escaped the room, found the treasure and cracked the code! Well done girls and boys!!!!!!!

Year 4.1 – The Bar Model
The Bar Model is a tool to help children reason about the relationship between numbers in the context of a maths problem. It is simply a diagram which clarifies relationships between elements of the problem so that pupils can easily identify what they know, what they don’t know and what they need to work out.
The students in Year 4.1 worked in pairs, where they were each given a problem to solve, using bar models. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and were made aware of how this method could be used in various other problem solving tasks.
Year 4.1 – The Secret Garden
In THE SECRET GARDEN written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, a young British girl is orphaned by an earthquake in India and is sent back to England to live in her uncle’s castle. Soon, she discovers a beautiful garden on the property and explores its secrets. The students of Year 4.1 relived this novel through a storytelling series, after which they wrote a summary of it and drew beautiful pictures!
The Solar System
The students of Year 4.1 have presented excellent displays of The Solar System as part of their Science Project Work! These are now beautifully exhibited in the school corridor for all to enjoy! Big well done for these amazing works of art!! Ms Lewis
Digital Literacy to enhance learning
This year, the students of Year4.1 have been using various apps from their tablet to practice their grammar, vocabulary and different styles of writing. Such apps include SimpleMinds, Kahoot, PicSay and Author Premium. The students are extremely happy to be learning these new apps and exploring different ways of presenting their literacy related tasks. Well done to all! Ms M. Lewis
Mgarr Fieldwork – Year 4.1
The students of Year 4.1 walked around some of the streets of Mgarr to work on their Social Studies Fieldwork. The children observed the traffic circulation, road signs and the differences between a busy road and a quiet road, amongst others. It was an exciting experience through which the students got to learn about their school village at first hand. Well done kids!
