Earth Day

More than 193 countries celebrate Earth Day on 21st April holding various events to demonstrate support for the protection of the environment.

Last week, Ms Claire Agius was invited to join the Go Green Club of Mgarr Primary school in their manifestation. Below is a video edited by her kindself to help us raise awareness.

Well done to Ms Rodgers, assistant head, Ms Joanne Galea, KE and the Green Club members for supporting the environment.

Earth Day

Earth day is an annual celebration which the Green Club hold at heart. Ms Rodgers, assistant head, organises an annual parade to promote the importance of caring for our planet Earth. The day kicked off with a special assembly organised by the Yr 5.1 students of Ms Melanie Sultana. During the assembly topics, such as global warming and the importance of disposing of rubbish responsibly, were discussed.

Even the youngest students in kindergarten contributed to the promotion of Earth Day by displaying their message on one of the school’s noticeboards. This activity was organised by Ms Joanne Galea, Ms Josianne Camilleri and Ms Nagaat Bugeja (Kindergarten Educators).

Around 70 students, together with their teachers and Ms Rodgers, walked along the streets of Mgarr to share their message to locals and tourists alike. The awareness campaign ended in front of the Parish Church of Mgarr.

As a final activity, Green Club students will now engage in a thorough clean up of the school’s garden 🙂

Earth Day

Celebrating Earth Day might seem futile to many, but this should not be the case. We have a duty to preserve mother Earth from the greed of mankind. Earth must be preserved for generations to come. Education is the best way to win this fight.

The students wore costumes representing various aspects of earth, including trees, flowers, lightning, the sun, etc. Climate change is among one of the hardest battles to handle.
