Ms Charmaine Mifsud, our Science teacher, together with the year 4 class teachers Ms Kylie, Ms Angelique and the students embarked on science and technology projects.

Students were asked to create their own shopping bags. Students were allowed to make use of recycled material, cereal boxes, cardboard, wrapping paper, string, ribbon, etc. However, it was up to the students to design their shopping bag, and to decide what material to be used, bearing in mind that this shopping bag had to be strong enough to carry a 500ml water bottle.

Students had to think of ways of how to make their bag stronger and how to ensure that the handles could support the weight. Students were divided in groups of 3 or 4 students. Once their project was ready, every group made a short presentation to their classmates to explain how their bag was designed, what material was used and the theme chosen e.g. Easter bag, Thank You bag, Mother’s Day bag etc.
