The Band of the Armed Forces of Malta visits Mgarr Primary

Army01

The band of the Armed Forces of Malta visited our school to promote various musical instruments. Students learnt about the different families, namely brass, wind and percussion instruments. The first session, dedicated to the younger students, was based on the story of Peter and Wolf accompanied by various instruments. Introduction to various instruments followed for the elder students.

Army02Finally the Army soldiers honoured us with a concert. It was evident that the soldiers are very well trained musicians who have the ability to entertain a crowd even solo. The school  would like to thank Warrant officer Vella for meeting our request and Ms Janice Vella Muscat, yr 2 teacher, for making this event possible.

Omelette Day…

Omelette

Our fantastic team of parent helpers enthusiastically cooking omelettes for all the students at school. This event was held to raise funds for the purchase of more resources to enhance the teaching and learning at our school.

Special thanks to the School Council, parents helpers and all the parents to sent their contributions to make this event yet another success.

Green Club at work…

Green club

Students are exposed to a holistic education programme at school. Nothing beats placing seeds in a pot and watching them grow after providing them with an appropriate environment and caring for them. Ms Rodgers, assistant head in charge of the Green Club, enhances a love for nature among students in a very practical manner, while students learn about how nature works wonders with a tiny seed.

New Books for Class Libaries… Aqra Kemm Tiflaħ

The school has been donated a substantial amount of books to be added to the Yr 1, 2 and 3 class libraries. These books have been donated courtesy of Literacy Agency of Malta co-funded by EU.

Aqra

A thorough exercise has provided the students with levelled readers which can be taken home. Every book has a worksheet which can be filled in by the students when reading the book. The purpose of the sheet is for self-assessment is not meant to be corrected by the teachers. The aim of the introduction of these books is to promote a culture of reading for fun.

booksEnjoy reading your new books and make the best use of this fantastic resource.

Carnival 2016

carnival01

It’s that time of the year when exams are over and our students can relax and enjoy the fun that carnival brings along. Carnival celebrations kicked off with a special assembly focusing on yet another science experiment held by the year 3.1 students of Ms Rosette.
carnival02After celebrating in class, the students, parents and all members of staff enjoyed a fantastic show put up by the parents helpers who animated and danced the song Ghosts Busters. The students also had the opportunity to watch their teachers performing another dance.

On days like these we truly show the team spirit that is fostered at our school which is shared among all shareholders. Well done to all for making this another memorable day for our students 🙂
