Shared Reading

sharedReading is essential for every child’s education. Students love stories, especially when they are read to them. The Literacy Support Teacher, Ms Annabelle Azzopardi, is currently doing class demo lessons to enhance the use of Shared Reading in the daily teaching and learning process. This is a school initiative based on the school’s action plan for the improvement of literacy.

Paired Reading

The Yr 3.1 students of Ms Sharon have been reading pairs from the book Daisy and the Dentist. The students talked about the pictures and then had a shared reading session where the teacher read the story to the children. New words were discussed followed by questions to check out for comprehension. Finally, the children read the story with a partner.

Ms Anabelle Azzopardi, Literacy Support Teacher, held four shared reading sessions iwith the Year 4.1 students. During the last session the children were divided into groups. They were given some objects. They had to come up with an idea of an alien costume using these objects. First they had to draw, then they had to write the instructions. Finally, they had to dress one of their teammates the alien costume.
