Glorious Citta’ Notabile (Mdina)
On Tuesday 22nd March 2016, the last day of school before the Easter holidays, the two Year 5 classes paid a visit to Malta’s old capital city, Mdina. While exploring this wonderful city, we mingled with the many tourists coming from various countries, some of which stopped to say hello or comment about the beauty of this historic medieval city.
Together we experienced the thrill of leaping into the past as we walked up and down many of the narrow and winding streets and spacious squares, stopping here and there to admire the various churches and palaces, amongst which the impressive St. Paul’s Cathedral, Palazzo Falson and the most interesting National Museum of Natural History hosted inside Vilhena Palace. We stopped for two breaks, one atop the bastions, from where we could admire the splendid view, and another in the public garden found in the restored Mdina ditch. The children had such a good time while learning to appreciate our national heritage.

A Visit to the Old Capital
On Monday 30th March 2015, the eve of the Easter holidays, the two Year 5 classes paid a visit to Malta’s old capital city, Mdina. Apparently many other schools had the same idea as we encountered quite a few groups of students in Mdina and its surroundings, as well as a multitude of tourists.
Yet we did have enough time and space to explore this city and its fabulous treasures. We walked up and down many of the narrow and winding streets and spacious squares, stopping here and there to admire the various churches and palaces, amongst which the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral and the most interesting National Museum of Natural History hosted inside Vilhena Palace, which we inspected from top to bottom. We passed through the city’s three entry gates and observed the splendid view from atop the bastions. As we were during Holy Week we also visited a Good Friday Statues Exhibition at St. Agatha’s Chapel. Once again we had a very positive and enlightening school outing.

Mdina, Rabat and Mtarfa…
On the 19th November the Year 2 children went on a trip to Mdina. They visited the Natural History Museum situated in the Magisterial Palace where they saw a vast range of insects, wild animals and birds amongst others.
Their journey continued with a walk through the narrow streets of the silent city, stopping in front of the Mdina Cathedral and on the bastion where the children had a few minutes to admire the spectacular view. Finally, the journey would not have been complete without going for a train ride which from Mdina took them around Rabat and Mtarfa.
Mdina Fieldwork…
On Thursday 14th November 2013 the two Year 5 classes visited to Mdina to carry out a Social Studies fieldwork exercise valid for their half yearly exams.
It was an enjoyable experience in this magnificent old city of Malta.
The weather was kind enough to allow the pupils to perform their tasks while admiring their splendid surroundings.
Many children commented that they never had so much fun while doing an exam.
