Using the theme Goldilocks and the Three Bears, kinder incorporated a sorting game of small, medium and large, and two activities on the interactive white board, namely, sorting colours and value of numbers. The activity finished off by colouring masks of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The teacher animated the story Stone Soup . Students also enjoyed animating parts of the story. Then, the class discussed the story elements. Afterwards, students were given a template of a plan with pictures and they wrote the characters, the setting of the story etc…
Another plan was given, this time they had the question words or phrases only so that they could modify some parts of the story from the previous plan. In so doing, the students made the text more interesting and relevant to them.
Finally, they were given the text of the story in the form of a paragraph and they had to change the underlined text according to their second plan.
During reading sessions students not only draw their favourite scene and character but they also write why.

Mass was celebrated at school by Fr George Schembri on this special feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Special thanks goes to Ms Mathea Mompalao (violinist), Mr Andrew Bugeja (pianist) and Ms Kathleen Farrugia (singer) for animating this mass celebration.
Year 4 students read all the readings and prayers. We also had a very good turnout of altar boys and girls who helped the priest during mass. Well done to all for this joint effort.
The children went outside in the school garden to pick up straws, sticks and bricks to build up the pig’s houses. The children worked together as a team. They really enjoyed it.

Students created a visual representation of a character, scene or setting from what they have heard read aloud by the teacher from a chosen text (in Maltese).
Students were given black paper and chalk and were asked to draw the image they had in their heads whilst they were listening to the reading. After the artwork was produced, students talked about their own and others’ pictures, commenting on what they have included and why. This exercise was intended to expand and enrich their descriptive vocabulary.

On Literacy Day the children read a book on the app Literacy Pro about Endangered Animals. Then they did an exercise on SimpleMind about the animals they read about and what is endangering them. A quiz on Quizziz about endangered animals followed.
To complement these activities a Special Assembly is being organised by this class about the importance of reading books. This will serve as a closure for Literacy week.
