The Yr 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie are always very busy. Their lessons involve many hands-on activities which allow the students time to learn, think and relearn. In the above photos students had to build cubes using lollipop sticks. They also had a go a investigating counting in tens and how to make a cloud in a jar. Below students were given tasks to sort numbers in order, to learn about odd and even, plurals and story sums.
The school is participating in the local initiative of providing a fruit or vegetable portion on a daily basis to students, better known as Skema ta’ Frott u Ħxejjex. The year 2 students had a hands-on session during which they planted basil and parsley in pots. Students had the opportunity to learn about the importance of such herbs in daily diets to provide the body with minerals needed for a healthier lifestyle.
The Yr 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie had an interesting lesson about adjectives, also referred to as describing words. The teacher introduced the lesson by showing the students a book about Simpi, the elephant. Students were asked to describe the elephant and to find the adjectives on a presentation.
The lesson continued with a set of games and activities where students had to match the words to the correct adjective using Bee-Bot, worked interactive games on the computer, matched flash cards to pictures and also wrote sentences to describe objects. These hands-on sessions allowed students to learn by thinking and sharing.
The Year 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie have been very busy lately learning through hands-on activities. In the photos students are participating in 3 different activities. One activity shows the students matching the different parts of the body. In another the students are learning doubles during a maths lesson. In the third activity students learnt that white light is made up of different colours – the colours of the rainbow.
The students are enacting scenes from the Christmas Nativity in preparation for Christmas. Above one can see the Yr 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie Azzopardi and below those of Ms Janice Vella Muscat.
Below are the Yr 1.2 students of Ms Marilyn. During these special assemblies children sing Christmas Carols and relate various part of the nativity.

The Yr 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie have been learning about ordering numbers and finding the number that falls in between. In the above activities students had to sort flowers according to number order, place numbers on a ladder in order, hang numbers on a “washing line” in order, and build towers using blocks and placing them in order from smallest to largest.
L-istudenti tat-tieni sena ta’ Ms Stephanie kellhom lezzjoni dwar l-għajn (għ) u l-hakka (h). Dawn huma żewġ ittri li jħawwdu bosta studenti. L-għalliema użat sistema multi-sensorjali fejn l-istudenti użaw għodod differenti biex jesploraw kliem li jibda bl-għ u bl-h. Fost dawn l-għodod użaw “plasticine” u ittri tal-plastik biex joħolqu kliem li jibdew bl-għ u l-h. Fl-istess ħin it-tfal kellhom l-opportunita’ biex jaħdmu fi gruppi jew f’par biex flimkien johorġu b’aktar kliem.
The Yr 2.2. students of Ms Stephanie had a very interesting Maths lesson. Children explored various ways of counting in 2s and 5s. Such learning sessions are very important as they prepare the foundations for manipulating numbers when learning tables. During one of the activities the students made their own hand prints, using paint, and then wrote the number of fingers under each hand print by counting in fives.

The Year 2 students celebrated the commemoration of their First Holy Communion. Special thanks go to Ms Janice Vella Muscat who organised this impeccable event together with the held of Ms Charmaine, Ms Anna and Ms Borg Vella.
