The Year 2 and Year 3 students had a talk about “Catch the Drop Campaign”. The aim of the talk is to make students aware about the importance of saving water and preventing unnecessary wastage e.g. by turning off the tap while brushing teeth, by ensuring that taps do no drip water when closed, by taking a shower instead of a bath, etc.
A Maths-Science Day was organised at school with the aim of giving parents a first hand experience of teaching and learning at our school. This was an opportunity for parents and students to work together in a number of workshops. Above are the K1.1 students of Ms Joanne who had an interesting session about space.
The K1.2 students of Ms Josianne learnt about moon dust and had the opportunity to pretend to be astronauts while learning about space.
The K1.3 students of Ms Camille learnt about magnets while counting the number of fish and rolling a dice to learn numbers and number value.
The K1.4 students of Ms Nagaat, together with their LSA, Ms Sharon, had a counting activity followed by an experiment using yeast and balloons.
The K2.1 students of Ms Janice, together with their LSA, Ms Marika constructed their own robots using various containers while learning about shapes. They also planted their own sunflower seeds while learning about the essentials required for a plant to grow, namely, air, sun and water.
The K2.2 students of Ms Joan had a volcano erupting in their class, followed by a session about magnets.
The K2.3 students of Ms Marija explored scientific facts about density and gravity.
The Yr 1.1 students of Ms Marilyn, together with their LSA, Ms Josephine along with the Yr 1.2 students of Ms Louise learnt about magnetism and density, while creating rainbows in a jar.
The Yr 2.1 students of Mr Noa, together with their LSA, Ms Charmaine, learnt about dinosaurs before they became extinct.
The Yr 2.2 students of Ms Janice, together with their LSA, Ms Anna, had various activities exploring ways of saving mother earth and learning about different habitats. Children produced their own bar graphs and learnt about the life cycles of various insects. They further explored their mathematical skills in doubling and halving.
The Yr 3.1 students of Ms Rosette, together with their LSA Ms Miriam, created their own patterns and explored concepts about shapes
The Yr 3.2 students of Ms Stephanie, together with their LSA, Ms Josette, made a volcanic eruption followed by sink or float activities. Finally they learnt about volume and length through various work shops.
The Yr 4.1 students of Ms Angelique and their LSA Ms Graziella held an inquiry-based investigation on “How can we keep the paper dry when immersed into the water and why?”. Another activity was about Growing plants. Students had to examine the stages of the growth of a plant. Each week they kept a record the growth of the plant and compare to previous results. During the Maths-Science day the children had to draw a graph to show the data collected.
The Yr 4.2 students of Ms Claudine plotted bar graphs of their pea pods which had been sown the previous week. They also made a volcanic eruption and learnt about volcanoes.
The Yr 5.1 students of Dr Micallef had to work in groups to solve various mind boggling problems about fractions. Even the parents had a hard time at coming up with solutions.
The Yr 5.2 students of Ms Miranda, and their LSA, Ms Doreen, learnt about the solar system. They had to set up the solar system using a to scale model. This activity was followed by mathematical problem solving and a science quiz. 
The Yr 6 students of Ms Raisa and Mr Cassar, together with their LSAs Ms Kathleen, Ms Audrey and Ms Ruth had 3 workshops. In the first workshop students had to find out what happens when mixing milk, food colouring and soap. The second workshop was about creating music with different levels of water and tubes. During another workshop students had to measure the length of various objects using meter rulers.

The Year 2.1 students of Mr Noa, together with their LSA, Ms Charmaine, prepared a special assembly about bees. Students learnt how bees make honey and about the way bees live in a hive working together to ensure that safety of their hive.
The Year 2.1 with the help of their class teacher, Ms Janice Vella Muscat, prepared a special assembly. This is a series of special assemblies dedicated to science whereby students perform experiments for the schoolmates. The aim of such assemblies is to instill a sense of curiosity and discovery in our young students.
The children were very excited for their outing to Xrobb l-Għaġin. It took us almost an hour to get there. This was the first time the child visited this place. We attended for the workshop Trees on the Increase.
On arrival we proceeded to Munxar view where the children enjoyed their lunch enjoying the beautiful landscape. The teachers explained that there are various stories stating from where this place got its name, however the children enjoyed the story about the fact that on windy days the water splashes against the big White cliffs and falls in the sea, causing the water to change the colour similar to when boiling pasta in water.
The students were then divided into two group. One group worked on an activity about animal homes. First they made a long caterpillar and they had to go around the trees in the forest to collect animals. Once out of the forest the children were seated on a blanket and, together with the teacher, they placed the animals into their homes. The children also learnt that if they ever come across any protected injured animals, such as hedgehog or sea turtle, they should phone the SOS number 99999505.
During the second activity the children were told the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. This was read to emphasize the point of magic beans. For seeds to grow they need sun, water and oxygen. They were then exposed to different seeds of different trees. The children observed the various sizes of these seeds. After that the children planted an oak tree seed in their yoghurt cup. They also planted another one in yoghurt cups that were left at the nursery.

The Year 2 students of Ms Janice practising their tens and ones in pairs during maths lesson. These hands-on sessions are a very good way for students to learn mathematical concepts at an early age.
The Year 2.1 students of Ms Beverly Muscat prepared a special assembly to commemorate the college Patron Saint, St Nicholas. St Nicholas is renowned for his generosity and for the work he did with the poor.
The Year 2.2 students of Ms Beverly prepared the Special Assembly for the third day of the Novena. The focus was on the donkey, which although is considered to be a very simple animal, always played an important role in the major events while Jesus Christ was on earth.
The Year 2 students have just received their first Holy Communion. For Christians believers this is a very important milestone. To commemorate this event a mass was organised at school by the Yr 2 teacher and the school council.

The year 2 students had the opportunity to visit the capital city of Malta, Valletta. During this outing the students enjoyed listening to Benny singing a number rhyme. The enjoyed this song and joined in the chorus attracting a number of tourists.
They then proceeded to Pjazza San Ġorġ where they had the opportunity to see the square covered in flowers. The students were lucky enough to visit the palace in St George’s square. While at the square they were saluted with the gunshot 🙂
This was definitely a day to remember!
