Riżorsa għat-tfal. Xogħol ta’ Ms Stephanie Azzopardi.
The Year 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie Azzopardi enjoyed a maths lesson outdoors about capacity. They estimated how many cups of water would be needed to fill in different sized containers and then actually counted the number of cups needed.
After lunch the children were asked to make friend s with a tree by hugging it. They observed how high or low trees are and monitored what`s under the tree i.e. exposed roots, fallen leaves, grass, twigs, stones, pine cones, insects (worms, ants and spiders). They also spotted glue oozing out from the tree trunk and a spider web near it.
Some boys climbed up on tree trunks and balanced on a tree log. Others worked together to lift a long narrow tree log…. What a day!Submitted by Ms Lucienne Vella, Kindergarten Educator
Today children learnt about flowers and plants. They talked about the parts of the plant – mainly the roots, the stem, leaves and fruit and they learnt about their purpose. Then they could analyse and discuss the similarities and differences including length, width of flowers, leaves and buds. They also noticed plants which had flowers and fruit.
In groups the children were challenged to recreate diagrams of plants. They using things they found in the outdoor environment.

After receiving all the flags and information, students not only read and learned new information about the history and geography of each country, but they also discussed which flags are symmetrical.
An exhibition of the received flags and information was prepared by the students and class teacher so that other students from our school could also learn something new.
This cross-curricular project was truly an educational experience which the students will never forget.
