A Healthy Snack!

The school works hard to promote a healthy lifestyle. Students need to learn, from a very young age, the importance of living a healthy lifestyle by striking a balance between healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle.

Toast

The kindergarten students of Ms Joanne Galea and Ms Josianne Camilleri prepared a healthy snack at school. They made a delicious toast sandwich which was spread with some butter, a slice of ham and and slice of cheese.

Before enjoying their snack, the students made a collage of a toast sandwich, while learning the importance of preparing a healthy snack.

Christmas Biscuits

The K1.2 and K1.3 students of Ms Joanne Galea and Ms Josianne Camilleri prepared some fantastic biscuits in preparation for Christmas.

Biscuits

The students were given time to roll out the dough and decorate their biscuits. This cookery lesson served to teach the students a number of fine motor skills and food handling techniques.

Teddy Bear Hospital for kinder students…

Hospital01The Malta Medical Students Association visited our school to organise an activity with our Kinder pupils.  The pupils were introduced to medical equipment such as the stetoscope and temperature and were encouraged to use it on their teddy bears.  The aim of this activity was to familiarize pupils with the medical equipment used by the medical doctor.

Later on the pupils were shown hand washing techniques.  The pupils were helped to wash their hands properly to get rid of germs which were represented by glitter!!! The MMSA students took ample time to help our pupils wash their hands properly.

Robin Feeder…

The Kinder 1.2 students of Ms Joanne Galea are working in full force for the Dinja Waħda project. A few days ago the students were informed about the migration of robins and they made a beautiful collage.

Robinfeeder

Ms Galea took this activity one step further. She made a robin feeder using a sieve (thus recycling material). This feeder was then hung in the school garden under one of our trees. Some pieces of apple were left in the feeder for birds to find food.

Believe it or not., when Ms Galea finished the lesson, a robin visited her class and stood on the windowsill. The children were so happy to see this robin 🙂

Nurturing love towards nature…

The Kinder 1.2 students, of Ms Joanne Galea, have been busy preparing a beautiful collage of a robin. The aim of this activity was to make students aware of this cute bird which visits our island at this time of the year.

Robin

Robins migrate to warmer climates in winter. They travel long distances to reach our island and face many perils on their journey. It is thus of utmost importance to welcome and to enjoy robins in their full freedom on our island, and not locked up in a cage.

Well done for sharing this activity with us and for working on another Dinja Waħda activity 🙂

Blessing of St Martin’s Bags…

St Martin

On the occasion of St Martin’s feast, the bags distributed to our Kinder students were blessed by the Acting Parish Priest Dun Valent Borg.  The pupils and the KGAs gathered together in our kinder section and Dun Valent explained to our young pupils the importance of this feast, who actually was St Martin and asked the pupils to join for a prayer.  The bags where then given to our pupils by their KGAs.

Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles…

The Kinder 1.4 students of Ms Janice had a very bubbly day today. During one of the activities held in their schedule, the students were given the opportunity to create a bubble collage.

Bubbles

Through such an activity the students learn colours, have fun and create a most interesting bubble collage while helping their lungs to grow stronger when blowing out to create bubbles 🙂
