Promoting a healthy lifestyle is of great relevance in today’s society. Children tend to spend long hours seated, either doing homework, playing on the computer or with a tablet, watching TV, etc. Thus promoting an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits are promoted at our school from a very early age.

Dinja Waħda… Fikx in trouble…
The Kindergarten students of Ms Joanne, Ms Janice and Ms Marija have been busy working on another Dinja Waħda project. Through this project the students had time to visit the school garden and to observe different creatures that live in the soil.
This project was an opportunity for students to learn about lizards, spiders, birds, butterflies and the natural habitat of these creatures. They also learnt how these creatures depend on each other in order to survive.
Below is a photo gallery of the different phases of this project.

A healthy drink…
The Kindergarten students of Ms Marija Spiteri, prepared a very healthy drink by squeezing some oranges. These activities not only enhance the healthy eating and living policies, but lend themselves perfectly for students to learn colours, shapes, enhance their fine motor skills, and more.
The students enjoyed their refreshing drink 🙂
Healthy Breakfast
The Kindergarten students of Ms Joanne Galea and Ms Janice Vella prepared a very healthy breakfast. The students had the opportunity to prepare toast using brown bread, lettuce leaves, cherry tomatoes, ham, cheese and carrots.
Moreover, the toast was presented in the shape of a butterfly. Such activities lend themselves perfectly to enhance the students’ fine motor skills, food handling skills, shapes, colours and awareness of leading a healthy lifestyle.

Little Scientists at work!
Spaghetti painting

The K1 students of Ms Josianne Camilleri have been busy painting their own works of art using spaghetti and paint. Such activities lend themselves perfectly to enhance the students’ fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination, while learning about colours 🙂
Little Artists at Work…
The K1.2 students of Ms Joanne Galea have been discussing the importance of healthy eating. During a number of sessions the students spoke about fruit and vegetables. Not only are they colourful, but fruit and vegetables are very healthy for us human beings.
To help the students thing more positively about fruit and vegetables, Ms Joanne helped the students create a beautiful collage using orange and lemon printing, cabbage leaves and artichoke leaves.
Such activities help build students’ fine motor skills and socialising skills. Well done to our little artists 🙂
