Seħer l-Istejjer / The Magic of Stories

The school has embarked on a programme with the aim of building a love for stories together with the National Literacy Agency. The programme, The Magic of Stories, or, Seħer l-Istejjer, is based on a number of 6 sessions where parents are invited to join their children, in class, while stories are being animated. Thus far the sessions being held are for K2.1, Yr 1.1 and Yr 1.2. However we shall further extend this project to reach the all the classrooms of early year students.

Special thanks to Ms Patricia Gatt for animating these stories and to Ms Marianne Schembri for offering this initiative to our school.

Learning by doing…

The Year 2.2 students of Ms Stephanie have been very busy lately learning through hands-on activities. In the photos students are participating in 3 different activities. One activity shows the students matching the different parts of the body. In another the students are learning doubles during a maths lesson. In the third activity students learnt that white light is made up of different colours – the colours of the rainbow.

Catch the Drop – online games to promote water conservation in Malta

HSBC Water Programme – Catch the Drop teamed up with Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) to further broaden the perspective on water issues by developing five digital games.

The games are Drip Drop, Filtro, Running Water, Summer is Coming, and Save the Drop.

They are available for free at: http://icaprojects.net/catch-the-drop/
While the games are pretty captivating in their simplicity and scoring, their story lines inspire the players to look at their usage of water in a new way.

Celebration Day 2016 – Respect for All

This year we are celebrating diversity. We live in a strange, but beautiful world… Full of hardships, yet full of satisfaction… Full of fear, yet full of hope… Surrounded by war… yet full of love…

We live in a world full of diversity which brings along many challenges.  We have students who struggle at school academically, students who are not accepted because they are “different”, students who face language barriers, students of different cultures, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc. It is very easy to forget the hardships these students face daily, in silence.

However, because we work as a team, we work hard to promote respect and diversity. Well done to all the members of staff and students for the fantastic performance and for spreading a message of “Respect for All”
