The K2.3 students of Ms Joan enjoyed the outdoors in the school garden on a lovely spring day. The students visited the school garden to have a closer look at flowers and trees growing in the school garden. The students observed the texture of flowers and where asked to draw a replica of the flowers growing in the garden. Then they explored the texture of the tree trunk and did bark rubbing. Finally they gathered some conifers which had fallen in the soil to be used for craft.

Traffic Awareness Day
A Traffic Awareness Day was organised by LESA and the Local Wardens at our school for kinder 2 and year 2 students. The aim of this activity was to raise road safety awareness among students.
Following a healthy discussion about road safety, the importance of wearing seat belts, the importance of not making use of mobile phones while driving and the importance of making good use of pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, the students proceeded to the school yard where they had a whale of a time riding motorised bikes and cars. Others joined the fun by pushing push chairs and driving a bicycle.
Students were awarded a certificate for passing their road safety test. The local wardens were very friendly and children welcomed them with an open heart. We hope that these youngsters will turn into responsible adults, and hopefully help pass on an important message about road safety to their families and friends.
The school thanks the Local Wardens and LESA for organising this event.
Recycling…
The Kindergarten students have been learning about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Students were asked to bring some of the trash gathered at home. All the trash provided was placed in the school yard and the students had to sort the trash. The trash will e used to make murals and other crafts at school.
Growing a Vegetable Garden continued…
Way back in January the K1.1 students of Ms Joanne Galea and K2.1 students of Ms Nagaat Bugeja embarked on a interesting project, that of growing a vegetable garden in the school’s front garden. Click here to see phase 1 of this project.
Click here to see phase one of the project.
The students enjoyed harvesting their crops. Peas have grown strongly in their pods and students enjoyed popping the pods for a wonderful surprise. Potatoes where unearthed using a hoe with the help of their Kindergarten Assistants. Students learn by doing 🙂
An Easter Tree
The Kindergarten students of Ms Janice in K2.2 prepared an Easter Tree. After painting empty eggs very creatively, the students enjoyed putting up these Easter Eggs on their Easter Tree.
Through such activities students learn about texture, colour and also painting skills. Such activities allow students to express their creativity. Moreover these activities provide for team work.
Easter Tradition – Figolli
The Kindergarten students of Ms Joanne and Ms Josianne cooked some Figolli in preparation for Easter. Figolli are a local tradition of a sweet prepared for Easter. The dough is made of eggs, flour and ground almonds. After cooking the dough the students decorated them with chocolate and some coloured sprinkles.
