Learning Outdoors – Ta’ Ħaġrat Temples

Today the Year 1.1 children visited the pre-historic temple of Ta’ Ħaġrat. Children have been mentioning these temples since our first visit to the Mġarr Centre. They were very enthusiastic about this outing and most of them were very curious about this place.

We set off after talking about this place. We talked about directions and number of steps, shapes and signs. When we arrived we talked about the location of this place, the different sections, and the enormous structure of this place.

Children were asked to imagine who used these temple, who built it and why it was used. At this point, their imagination ran wild! Real facts and findings will be shared with the kids in the following weeks.

Children took photos of different parts of the temple. Soon, they will be referring to the photos which will help them build a model of their favourite part of the temple.

Children felt very lucky that the people from the past have chosen their humble village to built ‘Ta’ Ħaġrat’ in and that people from all over the world are visiting it.

Money, money, money…

Students were engaged in various hands-on activities using real coins from their Math Toolbox.

In so doing, they were able to recognise the value of coins, use the fewest coins in real life situations, add totals up to 1 euro and give the correct change.

Furthermore, students were able to plan an activity within a given budget.

Awturi Maltin Iżuru l-Iskola Tagħna

Trevor Żahra u Natalie Portelli, żewġ awturi Maltin laqgħu l-istedina li jiġu l-iskola tagħna. Bdejna l-programm billi rajna reċta qasira ta’ waħda mill-praspar ta’ Kunċett u Marinton, imtella’ minn Ms Eleanor Vella u Ms Cora Calleja.

Wara kien hemm ħin fejn l-istudenti staqsew xi mistoqsijiet lill-awturi. L-awturi għoġobhom isibu l-ħin biex jiffirmax xi kotba minn tat-tfal u l-għalliema stess.

Trevor Żaħra u Natalie Portelli ħallew messaġġ lill-istudenti u fl-istess ħin qassmu magħhom l-esperjenza tagħhom. Grazzi!
