Sunny Fieldwork at Marsaxlokk

Marsaxlokk01

On Thursday 12th November 2015, our Year 5 pupils went to Marsaxlokk to carry out a Social Studies fieldwork exercise valid for their half-yearly exams. The weather was fantastic for this time of the year (thanks to St. Martin) which put a smile on everyone’s face. Marsaxlokk02

Friendly fishermen and street hawkers readily exchanged a few words with the children, and also complimented the latter on being very well behaved. Many tourists were also amused to see them diligently carrying out their tasks, and the kids repaid their attention with lots of waves and hellos. Marsaxlokk03

It was a truly enjoyable and instructive experience for the children, who were keen in showing their appreciation both during the outing as well as following our return to school. What a fun way to learn! Marsaxlokk04

The students had a great time learning by doing while exploring every detail of Marsaxlokk. Apart from doing the research the students were asked to draw their own works of art to representing the locality of Marsaxlokk.

Learning by discovery…

maths01

The Yr 3.2 students of Ms Stephanie have been enjoying their daily lessons by learning through discovery. In these photos one can see students working on various activities including place value of numbers, sorting coins, subtracting a one digit number from 20 by rolling a dice, matching numbers to number names and other activities related to Maltese. Such learning experiences provide the students with a positive learning experience 🙂maths02

Show and tell…

Show

Students are encouraged to prepare a short presentation about any topic they like e.g. The Jungle, A Family Vacation, Favourite Sport, The Solar System, etc.

These Yr 3.2 students of Ms Stephanie spoke to their classmates about various topics. While doing the show and tell presentation, the students used a digital microphone to record their narrative.
