The students worked very well together and helped each other out to complete their task. Such activities enhance the students’ socialising skills and skills for life.

It’s that time of the year again…

Novena Day1December – an important month for us Christians… It reminds of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ. During this month we remember the hardships Mary and Joseph had to face and the poor circumstances in which the Lord chose to be born. It is a time of reflection about the important things in life – not material ones, but spiritual ones.

Novena Day2

Students are encouraged to prepare a special assembly in a run up for Christmas. This special assembly is spread over 9 days, hence it is called the novena. During these assemblies the students, under the direction of their teachers and LSAs, and with the help of Ms Borg Vella, assistant head, the students explore moral values and issues which remind us of love, peace and generosity.

Novena Day3

This is also an opportunity for students to sing Christmas carols, to animate our morning assemblies and to enhance their self-esteem. Merry Christmas to all 🙂

Snapshots from Year 4.1

Marathon Walk 2014

On Tuesday 29th April 2014 the school embarked on a Marathon Walk. The children had been given sponsor sheets with the aim of collecting funds for the school council.

Marathon001 (1)

This Marathon Walk was linked to Science Fieldwork which was co-ordinated by the science teacher, Ms Charmaine Mifsud, together with the class teachers.

Marathon001 (2)

Year 3 to year 6 students were stopped at Dingli, near the football pitch. From there they walked approximately 4km to Buskett. On arriving at Buskett the students were given a 30 minute break, followed by a 45 minute field work session. Students learnt about various leaves, temperature readings in the shade and in the sun light, insects and other interesting things related to Science and Technology. The students then walked back to Dingli, following a shorter route. The students covered another 3.7km in 45 minutes.

Marathon001 (3)

The Kinder 1 to Year 2 students were dropped at Buskett. They had their fieldwork which was adapted by the class teachers according to their age. Ms Portelli and Ms Schembri joined us in the venture to give an extra helping hand.

Well done to the students and members of staff for making this yet another successful event. The school takes the opportunity to thank all parents for this noble cause.

Malta National Aquarium

The year 4 students had the opportunity to visit the Malta National Aquarium. Not only was this an experience worth viewing, but it also gave the  students the opportunity to learn about the different species of marine animals. They also had the opportunity to see fish and other marine creatures which one cannot find in the Maltese coast.

Science and Technology project Year 4

Ms Charmaine Mifsud, our Science teacher, together with the year 4 class teachers Ms Kylie, Ms Angelique and the students embarked on science and technology projects.

ScienceStudents were asked to create their own shopping bags. Students were allowed to make use of recycled material, cereal boxes, cardboard, wrapping paper, string, ribbon, etc. However, it was up to the students to design their shopping bag, and to decide what material to be used, bearing in mind that this shopping bag had to be strong enough to carry a 500ml water bottle.

Students had to think of ways of how to make their bag stronger and how to ensure that the handles could support the weight. Students were divided in groups of 3 or 4 students. Once their project was ready, every group made a short presentation to their classmates to explain how their bag was designed, what material was used and the theme chosen e.g. Easter bag, Thank You bag, Mother’s Day bag etc.

Below is a short photo story capturing the students at work and the bags produced. Well done to all 🙂
