Maths Workshops for year 6

Maths (1)Maths is an integral part of our daily routine. Sometimes students struggle with this subject. However, our teachers always do their best to present maths as a fun activity.

The best way to learn maths is through hand-ons activities, where students learn by discovery. With the support of our Maths support teacher, a number of maths lessons are being delivered at school with the aim of having students coming up with their own solutions and discoveries during a set of planned workshops.

“Entrepreneurship is an engine of job creation, innovation and economic growth.”

Community (12)Community (11)Community (11)

Our school has participated on a college based project, which is partly funded by the EU, to enhance our students’ entrepreneurship skills.

Community (9)Community (8)Community (7)

These sessions helped to enhance personal qualities and values, interpersonal skills, cognitive skills and practical skills, which students will need later on in life when preparing to find a job or career.

Community (6)Community (5)Community (4)

The year 4 students had 4 sessions during which they discussed various aspects of entrepreneurship skills. To sum up their learnings, the students are working on a project linked to entreprenuership skills.

Is-Sinjura B

Ms B (2)Ms B (3)Ms B (4)

Illum ħtaft l-opportunita’ biex immur nagħti titwila lil Ms Joanne Galea, għalliema tal-K1.3. Il-kurżita’ ma ħallitnix bi kwieti. Kemm il-darba nara lil Ms Joanne sejra l-literacy room b’ittra mdendla mal-ħwejjeġ tagħha. Għalhekk iddeċidejt li mmur nara x’qed isir f’din il-kamra iddedikata għat-tgħallim tal-litteriżmu.

Ħadt gost nara lit-tfal jitgħallmu dwar l-ittra B billi iltaqgħu mas-sinjura B. Din is-sinjura B kellha magħha ukoll bosta sorpriżi ta’ affarijiet li propju jibdew bl-ittra B. It-tfal vera ħadu gost.

Ms B (5)Ms B (6)Ms B (9)

Iżda kien għad baqa’ sorpriża oħra. Is-sinjura B ġabet magħha baskett li ġo fih kien hemm moħbija bosta affarijiet li kienu ta’ lewn blu.

Grazzi Ms Joanne talli qsamt magħna din l-esperjenza 🙂 Ninsab ħerqana biex niltaqa’ mas-sinjura Ċ fil-futur qarib 😉

Student Council Elections 2013

Election (10)Election (7)Election (6)

Our school has just elected its new student council. Members elected on the student council will be representing their school mates and will bring forward any suggestions and ideas needed to improve our school.

The PSD teachers have taken this exercise very seriously. First students had a session during which the role of the student council was discussed and explored in detail.

Election (5)Election (4)Election (2)

Students who wished to be elected prepared posters which were displayed on a school notice board. Students voted for their preferred candidate.

Voting (4)Voting (3)Voting (1)

The school would like to congratulate the new school council members and all the other students for having fulfilled their duties in such an important scholastic activity.

L-Imperattiv fis-sitt sena…

L-edukaturi dejjem jisħqu fuq l-importanza tat-tgħallim fejn it-tfal mhux jisimgħu biss, iżda jmissu b’idejhom dwar dak li qed jitgħallmu. B’hekk l-esperjenza tkun aktar siewja u tibqa’ dejjem f’moħħ l-istudenti.

L-għalliema tas-sitt sena ħarġet b’idea brillanti biex it-tfal jitgħallmu l-imperattiv. It-tfal sajru wraps u ħobż mixwi billi segwew istruzzjonijiet minn fuq karta li ġiet ippreparata għal dan il-għan.

Perezz li meta wieħed isajjar ikun hemm lista ta’ “ordnijiet” li wieħed irid isegwi, din l-attivita’ ħolqot opportunita’ biex filwaqt li l-istudenti jieħdu gost isajru, huma jitgħallmu dwar l-imperattiv.

Segwu dan il-video ippreparat b’ħafna dedikazzjoni minn Ms Borg tas-sitt sena. Proset lil tassew 🙂

Special Assemblies

Morning assemblies are an important part of the daily schedule in every educational institution. This gives the students, teachers and senior management team time to communicate, pray and learn together. Every class will be preparing special assemblies throughout the scholastic year.

Diversity (2)Diversity (4)

Diversity (1)

So far we had three special assemblies. The first one was prepared by Ms Borg and her year 6.1 students. During this assembly the students spoke to us about the importance of diversity. Each and every one of us has special qualities and talents, irrespective of their background.

Zumba (2)Zumba (1)Inclusion (1)

Another assembly was prepared by the year 5.2 class of Ms Micallef. Her students role played  a situation where one of the students was not allowed to play football with his team mates. Through this experience students were made aware of the injustice of bullying.

The year 4.2 class of Ms Said prepared a very active special assembly. All students were invited to dance the morning away through zumba, after being given a brief history of the origins of this dance.

Well done to all 😉

The Year 6.1 students of Ms Tiziana Borg have embarked on an ambitious competition.

The aim of the competition is to raise awareness against animal cruelty.

The students have come up with very interesting artefacts. Well done to all participants. We wish you the best of luck, but most of all thank you for making us aware about animals rights. Keep up the good work 😉
